Description

In this lesson, my main aim is to teach 'don't' and how to use simple present to give basic information. I will start the class with a lead-in to make sure the students are put into the context. then I will move on eliciting the rules of the present simple tense and at the end, I will ask students to write a short paragraph about themselves.

Procedure

lead-in (2-3 minutes) • to warm the students up

I will ask students to tell me a bit about their life. I will make an example of my own basic personal information and then ask them to come up with theirs

Contextualization (5-7 minutes) • To put the students into the context and engage them

I will give the students the same reading part and will ask them to underline the verbs. in order for them to fully understand my instructions, I extract a sentence from the text and underline the verb as an example. the students then are asked to check in pairs. The correct answer will be shown through a slide.

Clarification stage (part 1) (4-6 minutes) • to teach the grammar through eliciting

I will take a couple of sentence out of the reading text and write it on the board. I will ask the students to break down the sentences. I will start with the positive sentences.

Clarification stage (part 2) (4-6 minutes) • to teach the grammar through eliciting

I will give them the table on page 31 and ask them to fill it. Then students are asked to check their answers with their partner. the correct answer will be show through slides. I remark on the form of 'don't'.

Practice 1 (6-7 minutes) • practicing positive and negative form of simple present

Students will be asked to do exercise 5a and then will be asked to check their answers in pairs. The listening will be played so that students can check their answers.

Practice 2 (7-8 minutes) • practicing positive and negative form of simple present

the students will be asked to do the exercise on part 6a. the students will be asked to write the answers in complete sentences rather than just writing 'don't'.Then, they will be asked to stand up and go around the class and check their answers with their partners.

Practice 3 (8-10 minutes) • practicing positive and negative form of simple present

students will be asked to write three true and three false sentences about themselves. they are asked to read their sentences aloud and other learners should decide whether it is true or false.

Practice 4 (5-7 minutes) • practicing positive and negative form of simple present

Students are asked to do the exercise 2 on workbook. Then, the students are asked to work in pairs to check their answers. The answer is given through slides

Practice 5 (4-5 minutes) • practicing positive and negative form of simple present

students are asked to do exercise 3a on workbook. then the students are asked to work in pairs to check their answers. the correct answers will be shown through a slide.
