Procedure (39-51 minutes)
Lesson starts with T asking Ss if they have any children/how many if they have. Then T tells Ss to discuss in pairs "what did you planned for them" and "what have they become". This stage ends up with a WC feedback.
T elicits/pre-teaches the meanings of the essential vocabulary before the listening activity Vocabulary List: Dilemma: a situation which you have to make a difficult choice. (noun) Ambitious: having a strong wish to be successful (adj) Disagree: not to have the same opinion (verb) Audition: to perform in order to get a role (noun) Obsessed: too interested in or worried about something ( adj.) Isolating: to separate something from other things (adj) Reasonable: fair and practical (adj) Pushy: behaving in an unpleasant way to get something or to make someone to do something (adj) Depriving: to take something away necessary of pleasant, away from someone (verb) T makes some pronunciation drilling.
T gives the folded HO and asks Ss to listen and find an answer to the question in the HO. Then T tells Ss to discuss in pairs for the right answer. T ends this stage with a short WC feedback to see if everyone have the correct answer. CCQs for this stage: We are going to listen and answer the question. Why are we listening? T tells Ss to unfold the HO and listen carefully to do the exercise and plays the track. T will play track again if needed. Then Ss check their answers in pairs. T monitors during the pair checking to makes error corrections if needed. ICQs for this stage: Will you listen or guess the answer? "listen" Will you check your answers with a partner? "yes"
T gives a second HO and tells Ss to work in pairs and guess who gave which answer to the questions from audience. Then T plays the second track to listen and check their answers.T will play the track again if needed. T monitors Ss during listening to make error corrections. T splits class into two groups and assigns group A to find positive things about pushy parents and group B to find negative things about pushy parents. T gives Ss 5 minutes to discuss At the end of the 5 minutes T asks Ss to discuss and explain the reasons behind the positive and negative things they came up with.
