Main Aims

Reading: To practice reading for gist and specific information in the context of some pieces of information based on recent research which shows how the pace of life has increased in recent years.
Subsidiary Aims

Vocabulary: To provide clarification and practice of time expressions

Speaking: To practice/consolidate time expressions in the context of questionnaire about the pace of life.
Procedure (37-49 minutes)
T give students the first handout and ask them to work individually on it. (Students in this handout are going to write how do they spend their time) T models the activity on the board and write the following question: How much time do you spend on sleeping/studying/working/ etc...? T asks students to stand up and find someone who spend the same amount of time on the same activity. e.g. Two students sleep for 8 hours.
T gives students handout 2 and ask them to match the words with their antonyms. T asks students to check in pairs. T shows the answer key on the board. T drills the words. To check understanding, T give students handout and ask them to fill in the gabs. T asks students to check in pairs. T gives WCFB on the board. Students give answers and the teacher writes.
T give students the text and them to read and do exercise. (Students in this exercise are going to read and match the headings to the paragraph) T sets a limit of 4 minutes. T asks students to check with their partners. T gives answer key to students.
T asks students to read the text again and try to find which paragraph contains an invented piece of information. T asks students to check with their partner and tell why they chose this paragraph. T circulates and help students to justify their answer if needed. T gives WCFB.
T gives students a HO and ask them to stand up and ask three people the questions in the HO. T asks ICQ. How many people are we going to ask? three T circulates and jet down some errors if occurred. T asks students to sit down and get some answers from them.
