in this lesson ,students are going to learn how to use may/might/could and will/be going to to predict future. they gonna have two listening that guides them to future predict and at last they gonna have an speaking activity to talk about some future predictions .

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed listening practice using a text about future life in the context of our changing world

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation and asking some questions in the context of changing world

Procedure

warmer (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1-Ask some questions about future life on the earth : 2-project some pictures about the future life. 3-Students would discuss with each other

lead in (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the listening and make it accessible

1-Show some pictures from page 38-39 and ask them to discuss. 2-Ask a question about things our children may never see? 3- Ask them what the listening might be about? 4-Elicit some ideas from different groups quickly. 5-I need to preteach some vocabulary from the script. I will do this with a matching activity.

Listening for details (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information for listening tasks

1-Students are going to listen to Hannah and Dan. 2-They are going to answer 5 questions about listening. 3-I will let them discuss with their partners and find the answers. 4- Elicit them and take some feedbacks. 5- I will play the second listening and let them find the answers 6- Ask them to discuss to find the answers in their groups. 7-project the answers on the board 8- take feedback

language clarification (10-12 minutes) • To rewiew the grammar and use the modals for predictions

1-I will give the grammar spot and ask them to answer the questions. 2- ask students to discuss the answers with their partner. 3-Elicit some ideas about the grammar spot. 4-project the answers on the board

Semi controlled practice (6-9 minutes) • To use modals for predictions and speaking about context

1-Regroup students and ask them to change their seats. 2-Introduce the exercise and ask them to do it in groups. 3-Ask some ICQs. 4-Randomly choose one of the questions and ask from each group 5-Take feedback
