Description
In this lesson, students learn about reading for gist and details through guided discovery based on a reading text about life stories.The lesson starts with a discussion about people in our life. This followed by pair work practise. followed by reading for gist and details about twins. Finally there is some controlled practice. and free practice in small groups for speaking activity.

Procedure (45-57 minutes)
Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
to speak about members of your families.
Pre-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible
to give Ss an activity and let them work in pairs, to speak about their families members.
While-Reading #1 (9-11 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks
set short task based of general understanding of the text as a whole, give them time to read, students compare their answer together (pairs) first before class feedback.
Pre-teach vocabulary (2-3 minutes) • Teach any vocabulary needed for the task.
give Ss small activity about the new words individually and then they check in pairs.
While-Reading #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks
set a task based on detailed comprehension, Students compare their answers together (pairs) first before class feedback.
Repeating (1-2 minutes) • to provide fluency speaking practice in a coversation.
to give Ss the correct pronunciation about word related to the text.
Follow-up activity (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
do a speaking activity based on the text.
