Description

In this lesson, students will learn about can and can't based on a listening text. The lesson starts with discussion about things you can do. This is followed by explain uses of can. Finally there is some controlled practice through sentence reformulation and free practice via a final role-play speaking activity.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

teacher asks students about things the can do, and start with himself, then students talk about themselves, them teacher present a video about the same topic to help students to gather more information. before they watch, teacher asks: - who can do a lot of things and who can't? the lady or the man..

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

teacher tests students prior knowledge, by quick activity, let them check their answers in pair, the feedback already follows the activity

Teach (8-10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

teacher clarifies areas of the target language, which in this case is grammar. explain uses of "can", then the negative that we put "can't" instead of "can" then how to make a question.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

teacher use the student's book to test what the students have gained from the lesson teacher asks them to listen to the text and fill the gaps with the names of the candidates they in the TV show. teacher asks students who is the winner?and why? they have to say because he can do ........... Free practice (11-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
