Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students , relate TL material to students to get them interested in the topic.

The teacher ask students if they are living in their own house or they are renting. Then ask them to imagine the important things they should consider before renting. Teacher elicit from students. A picture of house on rent is presented, and students discuss it. If they responded positively , the teacher goes on by eliciting ideas about house renting.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To unblock key lexis needed to help students understand the listening as well as the tasks

The teacher presents three pictures of a bedroom, a bathroom, and a living room, and asks students to think about three things they can usually find in them. Teacher elicit as many ideas as possible from students and write their possible answers on the board. Then he pre-teaches using the projector some vocabulary they will encounter in the listening.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The students will be given a hand out of three questions. The teacher play the recording once. The students answer individually, check with their partners and then WCFB is done.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The students are given the listening handout, students will read it individually. Teacher play the recording and asks students to fill in the gaps. So the teacher first lets the students know what they are going to listen to and provides them with the handouts including the gap-filling paragraphs before playing the listening. then plays thelistening and let them write down their answers. plays the video again and asks them to check their answers with their partners before a WCFB.

While-Reading#3 (10-15 minutes) • To practice listening for specific information through scanning

Students are provided with a hand-out on which they need to identify individually which sentence is 'True' and which one is 'False'. The listening will be played twice since they will definitely need more time and a deep understanding of what the characters say in this part. They will check their answers with their partners afterward. The answer will be discussed together.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To allow an opportunity to talk about themselves regarding the context and also to develop the students' oral fluency on the topic

This free practice gives them the opportunity to use what they have learned during the lesson to answer the questions discussed on the listening about themselves. Students are asked to work in pairs ask and answer the questions given to them. The teacher presents 2 pictures of a duplex and a studio and ask students which one they prefer to rent The teacher walks around monitoring and taking notes. Finally the teacher will ask a couple of students to talk about their partners.
