To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a board game in the context of personal and general information
Procedure (35-50 minutes)
T puts up a picture of himself. 'Who is this?' 'What is this?' 'Let's read a story about this day'
On w/b 'How old was I?' 'Was I in Turkey?' 'Read and answer' Ss read the story about the picture. Time line.
You were six years old. 'Your were not in Turkey. 'S, where were you today at 12 o'clock?' I was at someplace. 'S, were you absent from the class yesterday?' No I was not.
'Are these sentences about the past or now?' 'Are they finished or not?' Highlight the form Clean the board. Drill. Preferably a lot.
Put the form on the board. 'This is present simple' 'This is past simple' 'Put was/were in the gaps' T hand out the questions. Peer-check T hands out the answers./ If there is time, Ss come to w/b for FB. Any questions?
Rearrange the class for board game. Ss play the board game. Listen for delayed correction.
