To provide clarification and practice of present continuous in the context of family, friends
Subsidiary Aims

To provide specific information listening practice using a text about telephone conversation and asking what are you doing in the context of family
Procedure (30-46 minutes)
1) show 2 pictures on the WB and elicit 'where are they?' 2) show the pictures of SB and tell Ss to discuss in pairs what are they doing. they are going to make some guesses.
1) And then show the two pictures of the New headway SB to elicit where are they and they tell Ss they are going to listen to and find out where are they and what are they doing. 2) Give the handout of pictures with the conversation to the Ss and they fill in the blanks. 3) Then Ss compare what they have written and what they have guessed about FB: Teacher nominates Ss to get the answers. and the answers are folded on the bottom of the page.
T give the HOs and Ss fill in them and then T show on the WB and elicit from Ss the rules.
Ss ask and answer the questions together abut the people in the previous listening and then teacher nominates Ss to get feedback
Ss talk in pairs to talk about different pictures and then the answers would be shown on the WB
Ss A and B each have a different set of papers and then they talk about each picture and making different sentences and trying to be even imaginative to just use the present continuous. FB: T nominates some Ss to share what they talked about with the whole class
Ss talk in pairs about things that are true for them at the moment and if we have extra time there is another activity like they look out of the window and describe what is happening and then they compare with other Ss what they have written
