Procedure (34-54 minutes)
Elicit the different rooms in a house. 'What is the room that you shower called?' 'What is the room you eat in called? 'What is the room you sleep in called? 'Were there any other rooms?' 'Which one do you think is more important?' 'What do you keep in that room?' W/c discussion.
T hand out the first page. 'Put the papers down.' 'Look here. There are some numbers here. These are the gaps. Write the numbers in the gaps' 'What are going to write in the gaps?' Ss complete the task in pairs. Monitor in the beginning to check understanding. T hands out the papers with the answers on them. 'Any problems?' T puts shows the pictueres and Ss review the items. [either W/c or nominate based on situation]
'How many flats can you see?' 'Tell what you see in each flat to your partner.' Demo. Ss do the task. Monitor for mistakes. FB.
'Which flat would you choose?' W/c discussion. 'We will listen to Shelly and Claudia. Listen and check which one they choose.' 'What are you going to listen for?' 'Which one did they choose?' W/c FB.
'We will listen' 'Who is talking to who?' 'What are you going to listen for?' T plays the recording Ss do the task. W/c FB
T gives the second page. 'Read these question' 'We will listen agian' 'Answer these questions' Ss check with their partner. W/c FB.
'Did Shelly tell the truth or did she lie?' 'Look at the picture. Underline where she lies' Ss check with their partner/s. W/c FB.
T assigns roles to Ss. 'Shelly, father, Shelly, father,...' 'Read your parts to your partner' 'What are you going to say?' Ss work in pairs. Monitor for any potential pronunciation errors.
