Description

In this lesson, students listens to a dialogue about cooking. The listen will start with a discussion about a picture. This is followed by a vocabulary cut ups. After getting themselves familiarise with some key words through cuts. Students will listen to a series of dialogues. And finally a small discussion.

Main Aims

  • To provide specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about Get ready, cook in the context of Dishes, ingredients, cooking.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Discussion in the context of Cookery
  • To provide review of cookery words in the context of starter, main course, and a desert

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To make students eager to learn the vocabularies in the pre vocab session.

A picture is going to be shown in which there are different ingredients and chef and so on.

Pre Vocabulary (5-6 minutes) • To prepare students for the cut ups and listening

We now assume that students could not dig out any words from their long term memory and their brain is in the process of searching. Just at this very moment, I will start to show pictures of ingredients that is going to be in listenning.

Pre Teaching Vocab Session 2 (6-7 minutes) • To provide students with some important words such as recipes, competition.

Right after the visuals about ingredients, cut ups are going to be given for more abstract words to match.

Listening (7-8 minutes) • The beginning of target language and time to use words learned from the cuts ups and visuals.

Teacher distributes handouts and three questions are included in the handout about the listening.

Listening session 2 (10-11 minutes) • To present a bit more intense listening

Handouts will be distributed and instructions will be given

Speaking (4-5 minutes) • Taking their opinion and prepare them for the final listening

Students are going to be shown the pictures of prepared meals

Listening session 3 (6-7 minutes) • To conclude what have learned so far and test understanding.

Students will be using the previous handouts distributed and going to listen judges comments.

Speaking (4-5 minutes) • Using what they have learned among their friends.

Instructions will be given to getting them talk to each other their favourite food.
