Procedure (39-51 minutes)
1.Briefly check Ss’ names & try to learn them. 2 min 2. Show SS 3 pictures, elicit the names of the rooms. Ask them what room and why they like. Have Ss discuss the question in pairs. Get feedback from some pairs.
Elicit information about Ss houses. Do you have any flowers in your house? Do you have any fruit in your kitchen? Do you have any pictures in your living room? Do you have any curtains in your kitchen?
After Ss have given the answers about their houses, tell them about my house and write these 4 sentences on WB in 2 columns : 1. There is a flower in my kitchen. There are some pictures in my living room. 2. There aren't any curtains in my kitchen. Do you have any fruit in your kitchen? Highlight the words a/an, some/any and elicit when we use them (+, -, ?) and why we use them (singular, plural). Drill the sentences chorally and individually if needed. Add substition drill.
Nominate some Ss, have them read the sentences, choose the correct option and explain their choice (ppt). 3 min
Hand out w/sh and set the time. 1 min Ss look at Shelly's bedroom and complete the sentences with some/any or a. 2 min Ss check their answers in pairs. 1 min W/c feedback. 1 min
Hand out pictures and cards Groups of 3
Get Ss think of one room in their houses and tell about it to their partners. New words on WB (ppt) so Ss can make affirmative and negative sentences as well. Their partners should ask them qs about the words that were not mentioned.
Put some of the errors on WB and elicit correction and reformulation. I heard you say .... What's another word for ...? What's another way to express this?
