Procedure (36-46 minutes)
I will show a picture of my flat in London (the interior) and the picture of the whole building to set the idea of a flat in a converted mansion or apartment. I will pair them up and ask them to write all the words about buildings and the adjectives to describe (referring to yesterday's session) on the sheet. Next each individual will write those words on the w/b all in one go. I will feedback and correct if needed.
I will show the picture of text about the House Swap descriptions from the website on Ss Bk P.32 and ask them to highlight important words/vocab/adj etc in pairs. The aim is to highlight --A lovely big family house on the river-- which will be used for next stage of the session.
A script focusing on TL will be given to Sts as prediction task. They will pair up and compare answers within the time limit 3-5 minutes. After I read once with natural pace, Sts will take notes on what they heard. Then pair up and discuss answers. I will give As Version1 and Bs Version2 of the gap filling activity and read again to complete the task. As suggested by the tutor; for feedback answer key will be shown on the w/b after the task.
I will go back to the previous lesson's activity of House Swap and focus and Elicit --A Lovely Big Family House-- showing the stages of how to formulate this house description. A House / A Lovely House / A Lovely Big House / A Lovely Big Family House / A Lovely Big Family House on the beach.
After eliciting the TL, I will ask them to look at the another set of pictures shown on the w/b and think about the previous activities. I will ask them to close their eyes and imagine their home. Asking (Where is it? What does it look like? Is it a flat/house? Family house? Lovely? Horrible? Messy? etc. Then student open their eyes and write a short description of their house (4 minute time limit) and tell partner in pairs.
A new method of showing the answer key will be applied during this session. Also during Exposure stage Sts will be exposed to correction at the early stages of the session.
