Procedure (49-63 minutes)
Teacher shows few pictures of some websites or their logos and ask sts if they know/use them? How often? Do they like them or not?
Teacher does a quick dictation, sts check their answers in pairs, Teacher shows the answers on the board and ask sts to check if their answers are the same(p 12, ex 1) Teacher elicits the pronunciations of the symbols(p 12, ex 2) Then students work in pairs and do the third task.(P12, ex 3)
Teacher sets the context of the listening by using the pictures and ask sts what they are (P 13) and sets instruction for gist listening. Students work individually and teacher nominates sts to answer. (ex 1) Teacher prepares sts to do the ex 2 by eliciting what kind of information they need to write, sts listen again, write the information and then check in pairs(listen again if necessary) Teacher asks one or two questions about the conversations ( eg,How does the man in the second conversation feel, Is he happy or sad? What's the problem? (his wife is having a baby)
Teacher writes the sentences from the Grammar box on the board(p. 13). Highlight the target language and elicit the rules by asking about students possessions(bags, books, pens, names, etc)
Students do the Grammar exercise 1 with their partners (p. 13), check with other pairs and then whole class feedback.
Students look at the 3t=rd picture on p.13, teacher asks questions like who they might talk to ,if they go there? elicit necessary words like receptionist. Students do the exercise number 2 (P. 13) individually then check in pairs before the whole class feedback.
students look at the prompts (Page 13) , teacher writes some example answers on the board, elicit the questions. Students work in groups of 3 (so that they can also use her/his not only my and your) and ask about their partners' information.
