Procedure (33-48 minutes)
T writes on the board: 'You have to be home before it gets dark' T asks 'who do you think told me that?' and elicits 'parents' T elicits other things parents tell their children. S brainstorm things parents say to control their children.
Teacher asks Ss to figure out who is talking to who and what they are talking about. Check for understanding: What should you listen for? Ss listen to the conversations and do ex 2a Ss check in pairs. instruction: 'check your answers with your partner' Whole class feedback to determine the correct answer. T asks for the answer one question by one
Teacher asks students to 'match each sentence with a dialogue.' and demonstrates. Check instructions: 'What are you going to write in the boxes?' Students listen to the recording again Students do ex c in pairs determine the correct answer 'Check in pairs' Whole class feedback
T asks Ss to do ex 2c in pairs 'write one letter in each of the little boxes'. Check understanding by asking: 'What are you going to write in the boxes?' Students do the task in pairs and teacher copies the exercise on the board. Whole-class feedback. Teacher writes one example of each form from the conversations on white board and elicits the form. Teacher drills the sentences whole class and highlights linkings and harder sounds Ss look at sentences in ex 3a 'now look at the sentences from exercise 3a' Ss listen to record ex a1 Teacher drills the the sentences whole class T points to the students and assigns the letter A or B to each student. Students practice the pronunciation in pairs
Teacher tells Ss to work in pairs and. 'A asks question and B answers' Ss ask the questions and answer them. Ask the Ss to swap roles halfway through. 'Now B asks the question and A asnwers' Monitor and listen for any possible good uses of language and mistake and correct in the feedback if needed.
