Procedure (37-55 minutes)
-T. divides Ss into groups. -T. asks students if they are familiar with prefixes. -Ss answers. -T. asks CCQs about prefixes in case any of Ss does not know them: 1- Do they come at the end of words? No. 2- Do they come at the beginning of words? Yes. 3- Do they change the meaning of words? Yes. 4- Do they not change the meaning of words? No.
-T. distributes handouts. -T. reads the story. -T. asks each group of Ss to reread the story and underline words with prefixes. -Ss starts the task. -T. monitors and takes notes. -T. elicit answers. -Ss answer.
-T. explains the meaning, form. and pronunciation of each prefix.(MFP) -T. asks CCQs. -Ss answers.
-T. asks each group of Ss to read certain paragraphs from the reading text on page 10, and to underline prefixes. -Ss start the task. -T. tells them to answer the exercise in the book. Page 11, Q.3 (a&b), and Q.4 (a&b). -Ss answer. -T. monitors and takes notes. -Each group checks its answers with the other. -T. elicit answers. -Ss answers.
-T. asks each group of Ss to speak about the personality of one of the celebrities mentioned in the first unit, and to use prefixes in their speech. -T. models the task to help Ss. -Ss start the task, -T. monitors and takes notes. -Ss' groups exchange representatives.
-T. writes Ss' mistakes on board to be corrected. -T. gives positive feedback to encourage students.
