Description

In this lesson Students will identify sea life , Know where different sea animals live , learn about different layers of the ocean and their characteristics and identify and use words related to sea life .

Materials

Abc handouts , students'book , workbook , WB, tv

Main Aims

  • To provide student with the necessary ideas and terminologies to identify and use words related to sea life

Subsidiary Aims

  • To read about different layers of the ocean

Procedure

Introduce the unit :Warm Up (5-7 minutes) • Brainstorm some ideas about sea animals and wild animals

Project two pictures . One for a sea animal and one for a wild animal . Ask students some questions about the different between them and where does each one of them live .

Build background (6-8 minutes) • To engage students in the topic and give them some ideas about the sea life

Students will read the title and I will explain and ask some questions about it . Students will discuss their answers in groups and I will monitor their talk to provide help when necessary .

Controlled practice (10-12 minutes) • To check students' understanding of the picture and the unit title .

Students will work individually to finish the activity on page 90. After they finish they will compare their answers in pairs .

Present (6-8 minutes) • to contextualize and introduce the target language

Students will learn about some animals that live in the sea . I will hold up a sea shell and ask students where do we find it and what a shell is for ? Students will listen to some names of sea animals and repeat as they are listening .

Free practice (12-15 minutes) • To give students the opportunity to work in groups and speak with each other to practice the learnt items

I will draw an ocean on the board with different layers elicit from students some names of the layers and the sea animals that live their . Students will be given some questions to answer in pairs .At the end the students will listen to some information about sea life and use some new words in sentences.

Produce (10-11 minutes) • To give student opportunity to produce and use what they have learnt .

Student will sit in groups and will be given some pictures of some sea animals . They have to cut out the animals and glue the in the correct place in the ocean that they already drew in the A3 papers. After they finish each group will go to check the other group's work .
