Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Turn the projector on. Greet my students and chat a bit with them. Project some pictures of comic robbery, and ask " What can you tell about these pictures?". Elicit and make them familiar with the target subject.

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-After having them discuss the subject, I will write some words on the WB. -They will work in pairs and then I will elicit the definitions. -Make them pairs and handout a vocabulary filling in the gaps activity. -Make them check their answers in their groups. -Whole class check: Use PPT and elicit the answers. -Drill the words. -Make them groups of four or five people. -Hand out vocabulary matching game strips of words and definitions. -Make them check their answers in groups. -Whole class check.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

-Hand out the reading and make them guess what the article is about in groups of three people considering the vocabulary activities that they have done. -Ask them to read for gist, give them three minutes to discuss it.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

-Ask them to read in detail and discuss the answers for the questions in groups. -Give them the handouts. -WC

Post-Reading/Listening (2-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Make them groups of 3 people and ask them to think about a suitable title of the article.
