Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of future perfect in the context of reading

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about a postponing a meeting
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversations aboiut futuer plans

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

show them the picture of people in different years and ask them to discuss the question for 2 minutes

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

tell them to read the text and answer the given questions for 4 minutes. you can tell them that all answers are related to future tell the to check their answers in their groups project the text on the board ask them to come to the board and underline the answers on the board

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Try to elicit the target language by asking questions like what are the tenses of these sentences Are they future perfect or future continous

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

give them the guided discovery handout give them 5 minutes to answer the questions ask them to check their answers in the group they will come to the board and write their answers on the board teacher will clarify the problematic questions

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

give them the workbook activity give them time to answer the questions project the questions on the board nominate one student to give the answers then students need to nominate each other while they are giving answers you write them on the board

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Show the discussion questions on the board Ask them to find a partner and answer the questions Tell them to use the target language while they are answering the questions Monitor the students Write down their errors on a piece of paper Write those errors on the board and correct them
