Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

WHAT IS THE DANGER OF USING THESE SOCIAL MEDIA?(IDENTITY THEFT) DO YOU THINK IDENTITY THEFT IS A SERIOUS CRIME? WHAT DO YOU THINK THE PUNISHMENT SHOULD BE FOR THIS CRIME?

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T: DO I TALK ABOUT NOW?(YES) IN THE PAST?(NO) IN THE FUTURE?(NO) IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I CAN BE YOU?(NO) WE CALL THIS 2ND CONDITIONAL. T writes on the board “2nd conditional” Nature: unreal (impossible) or improbable situations. Time: present; the TENSE is past, but we are talking about the present, now. E.g. If I knew her name, I would tell you. If I were you, I would tell my father. T: WHEN DO WE USE? T writes on the board “Use 2nd conditional” -to talk about things that are impossible, unlikely to happen. T: CAN I USE COULD IN THE MAIN CLAUSE? HOW DO WE FORM THE SENTENCE? T writes the form: "If + subject of if clause, verb in past tense, main subject + would/could + main verb in base form T writes the sentence: If He were you/the president, he would change it. T writes the form: if + subject + were + object pronoun/noun/adjective main verb + would/could + main verb in base form CCQ: IF I WERE RICH, I WOULD STOP WORKING.. AM I RICH NOW?
