Materials
Main Aims
-
To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of an interview.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide the language function and the meaning and form of the useful language (so do I, neither do I,we both......,neither of us......)
Procedure (33-45 minutes)
-I will play (2 true 1 false) game first then I will encourage students to guess the false fact about me .Then I'll encourage Ss to produce some facts about themselves. -I'll ask Ss. to play the game in closed pairs. -I'll ask Ss. about what they discover about their partners. -I'll present a video and ask students to notice how every speaker agrees with what he or she hears.
- I'll go back to the three statements about me. -I'll distribute cards having expressions of agreement and disagreement on Ss. -I'll ask Ss. these questions; What would you say if you live in Egypt like me? What would you say if you don't smoke like me? -I'll ask Ss. to raise the right card.
I'll clarify meaning of; (so do I,Me too, Neither do I, ..........) -I'll ask CCQs .Example (Me too does it mean I live in Egypt too or in another country?) -I'll drill orally and I'll ask Ss. to repeat after me. -I'll ask Ss. to stick the right card in the right column .I'll explain the confusing part in the form which is the inversion in (So do I , neither do I)
-I'll distribute a table in which every student will fill in 6 facts about himself or herself. -I'll ask every Ss. to find things in common and differences with his partner using the expressions on the board. -I will demo with one of the students. -I'll ask two Ss. to speak in front of the class. -I'll ask Ss. to do the activity in closed pairs.
-I'll ask Ss. to report what they discover about things in common and differences that they have with their partners. - They will use; we both.................. neither of us......................... I..............but he or she.................... -I will write some sentences on the board and ask Ss. to guess where the mistake is in an open language feedback.
