To provide accuracy speaking practice in a interview using adverbs of manner
Procedure (44-58 minutes)
say: before starting the lesson we need to find new group mates then 1. give Ss different colors. put colors on the tables and ask students to find their table and sit with their group mates. 2. write on WB: what does he do? how? say: we will watch a video to find the answers for these questions. ICQ : how many questions we will answer? 3. play the video and elicit the answers: he is driving angrily
1.say: now watch me and answer the same questions. mime ' driving carefully' elicit it 2. say and model: now you will do the same one of you picks up a paper from the envelope s/he doesn't show the paper. s/he is silent s/he shows the action and others guess the group that finishes first is the champion 3. ICQ's: Do you show your paper? [NO] Do you speak or act? [act] 4. Pass out the envelope pockets
ask students to make two lines and then put them in pairs 1. show HO1 and say: read these sentences and then answer the questions with your partner ICQ: what do you do with your partner? [answer the questions] 2. pass out the handout 3. go over the answers 4. in each group change the place of two students to make new pairs 5.show HO2 and say: here we have words, and here we have a box put the words in the correct box and make adverbs 6. ask different Ss to write answers on the board
1. show HO3 say and model: there are sentences here but they are not complete change the words in parenthesis to make adverbs 2. pass out HO3 3. then ask them to check their answers with their partners
1. from each group ask 2 SS to stand up and go to other groups 2. show HO4 say: ask questions from your partner give complete answers and use adverbs model the task IF TIME ALLOWS: monitor and write some of the correct and wrong answers that SS produced on the WB then ask them to decide which one is correct which one is not
