Procedure (31-45 minutes)
The students will be asked to look at the passage and underline all the words with than, most and least. After that the word "comparing" will be elicited from the students. The sentences will be used as marker sentences and will be written on the board. With some CCQs such as : "are we comparing with adjectives or nouns?", "Are we comparing things about one person or we are comparing people?" Then two categories will be written on the board and the marker sentences will be given to the students. They will be asked to put the sentences in two categories of "Comparing two things or people" and "compare more than two things or people" in groups.
Q: "Which sentences are about more things and which ones not?" They will be asked to look at the first column(compare two things) and in their groups discuss the differences and try to think of the reason why it changes at times? During the activity I will give them a piece of paper with a choose the correct answer activity which contains the answer to the questions. Then in a quick whole class activity the teacher makes sure the students know countable and uncountable nouns. Then the teacher tries to elicit the form in the board. and will give them the handout with from and explanations. Then two sentences will be written on the board and with drilling and finger technique sentence stress will be taught
Controlled practice: the handouts will be distributed and Ss do the first task individually and then will do it in pairs. Semi controlled practice: The second handout will be discussed in groups and one of the members will write. Students then will stand up and check their answers from the answer keys around the class. Freer practice: The role play will be done in class. Students will receive their roles. Read them and wil start working on the questions. Then they will start planning in groups. If time they will compare their party with their neighbors and will discuss the good points and bad points.
