To provide fluency speaking practice in a survey interview in the context of media

To provide product writing practice of a questionnaire in the context of media

To provide practice of language used for preparing questionnaire and summarising the results in the context of media
Procedure (39-48 minutes)
-get the OHP ready to be used in different stages of the lesson -show a picture of a questionnaire by OHP -link the lesson to the previous lesson -ask the ss to discuss in PW Have you ever been interviewed with a questionnaire? What was it about?
-give the instructions for listening to people answering questions about various aspects of the media (HO1) -pass out hand out HO1 (folded) -play the recording -ss listen and write the questions they think the interviewees were asked -PW check -WC FB -unfold HO1 -give instructions for HO1 -ss read the topics and find the suitable topic for the questions in interview -PW check -WC FB
-set the activity -ss work in pairs and choose a topic from HO1 -show the example in OHP -ss decide what general issue they want to find out about the topic -present the topic of TV/video -get the ss ask different questions about the topic -elicit the useful language -draw a mind map of the useful language on the WB
-give instructions for HO2 to prepare their own questionnaire using the useful language -ICQ -pass out HO2 -ss work in PW to prepare 8 to 12 questions -paired Ss' questions should be the same -give instructions to mingle and interview other ss -ICQ -ss mingle and take notes of answers -ss can not answer the same question twice -monitor -ss go back to their original pairs -PW comparison of findings -monitor -give the instructions for putting the functional language of summarizing into two categories (HO3) -ICQ -ss categorize the functional language -CCQ for MFP -ss make a summary of their findings -ss share their summaries with other pairs (4 ss are joined) -monitor
-get WC FB from some pairs -write some errors or interesting points on the WB -elicit corrections
