Procedure (40-46 minutes)
The Ss will be shown an aerial picture of Barcelona and ask each other if they know where is it and that how is it. I will elicit the word "organized". then I will ask them to tell each other if they know how Istanbul might look like from the air. Then they will ask each other a question which I will put on the board: What kind of house do you live in? They will do this in pairs and I will receive answers from a couple of Ss.
Ss will be given a HO of matching two sentence halves about British housing facts. They will do it in pairs and check their answers with their neighboring group. I will put the correct answers on the board. Then, Ss will be divided into groups of four and try to match some house definitions with their meaning. After they've done it, they will stand up, move around the class and look at other groups' answers. I will elicit the answer and drill the new vocabulary MPF.
Ss will be given another HO with pictures of unusual accommodation and try to match the pictures with the words. After the FB, they will talk about another question which they can see in part 1 description. I will get FB from some Ss. Three difficult words will be pre-taught MPF. These are the keywords which Ss need to know to answer the detailed questions.
Ss will listen to the audio track once and try to understand which kind of accommodation the people are talking about. This stage will act as a gist listening and provide them with the main idea. There will be no pause at this stage. After they've done this task, they will talk about their answers in pairs and receive O/C FB.
At this stage, Ss will listen again and do part 3 of the listening exercise which requires them to take notes of the best and the worst things about the people's unusual houses. As this stage requires writing, I will have to pause at some stages to give the Ss enough time to write down what they hear. When they are ready with their notes I will change their groups and put them into groups of 3 to go through their answers with their new partners. I will elicit the correct answers and drill some tricky words one more time.
Ss will see some pictures and 2 questions on the WB and will be given 2 minutes to brainstorm and take notes. They will mingle and talk in groups of 4 and share their opinions with their groupmates. During this stage, I will silently monitor and not intervene unless necessary. I will also make notes of Ss achievements and errors. If there's time, I will do a delayed error correction at the final stage.
