Procedure (44-49 minutes)
The students will talk about the presents they were given and the presents they gave. First the teacher will talk about the presents she gave and she received. Then the students will talk about it pairs. They will ask these questions to each other; What was the last present you gave? Who did you give it to? Why? What was the last present you received? Who was it from?
Students will be given the vocabulary items and they will work in pairs. They will see the definitions or the pictures on the board and they will show the correct vocabulary item by raising the word. Teacher will ask some concept questions about the items or will give examples. When they finish they will be given the answer key.
Students will listen to the interview with the travel writer who wrote the article (Neil Palmer). They will be given some topics and while listening to the interview they will put the topics in order. Then teacher will check the answers with the class.
The students will be given some sentences from the interview and they will be given some time to read the sentences. And then they will listen to the interview again and choose the correct statements in the sentences. Students will check their answers in pairs and then the teacher will provide the answers with a handout and asks students to check their answers. Then the teacher asks students which facts they have found surprising or unusual.
The students will be given some topics and they will work in groups of 4 or 5 according to the number of the students in the class. Students will look at the examples provided on the handout and teacher will clarify the form, meaning and the pronunciaiton of must and should. Students will write down 10 tips and when they working the teacher will check their sentences for accuracy and help with the new vocabulary. Then one student from each group will come together and they will compare their tips. Finally, the teacher will ask them to share interesting or unusual tips with the class.
