Description

In this lesson, students will learn personal information (name,surname,age etc.), verb 'to be' and possessive adjectives. The lesson will start with an activity that the ss will learn concepts of personal information by looking picture of a man and woman, do listening exercise related these people and be informed of the verb 'to be' and possessive adjectives.They will practice the exercises in pairs and then ask each other personal information questions. SSare asked to mingle in the middle of the classroom and ask and answer questions each other.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of personal information

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about possessive adjectives and the verb 'to be' in the context of personal information
  • To provide clarification, review and practice of the verb 'to be' and possessive adjectives in the context of personal information.

Procedure

Stage 1 (8-10 minutes) • To introduce the SS the concepts of personal information

- divide the class into 3 groups with 4 students. - give the paper with two pictures and a chart to each group. - make SS glue the correct information to the correct person by looking at the pictures. - show the correct completed paper to the students to check their answers. - SS speak about the pictures and information about the people.

Stage 2 (3-4 minutes) • To do listening exercise.

- give SS the gap-fill exercise. - listen the information about Sabine and Bill - make SS check answers in pairs

Stage 3 (2-3 minutes) • To check the answers and pay attention their mistakes.

- monitor them - take some notes -give feedback to whole class.

Stage 4 (Drilling) (3-4 minutes) • To repeat the sentences with SS taking consideration the prounanciation.

- model and drill the questions - make choral drill first and then individual - emphasize the possible spelling mistakes while drilling - correct their pronunciation mistakes if there is.

Stage 5 (3-4 minutes) • To introduce the SS detailed form of the verb 'to be' and possessive adjectives.

- examine the colored, mixed and glued papers on the wall. - find the correct form of the verb 'to be', its contraction, negative form and the possessive adjectives with correct pronoun. - put them in order taking consideration the subject.

Stage 6 (1 minutes) • To check the mistakes and SS's understanding

- give feedback about the form of 'to be' and possessive adjectives.

Stage 7 (4-5 minutes) • To make SS speak.

- form the SS in pairs. - practice the completed dialogues 2 and 3. - first the student 'A' asks the question and 'B' answers then in the 2nd question 'B' asks and 'A' answers.

Stage 8 (2 minutes) • To correct the SS's mistakes

- monitor and take notes - give feedback to SS.

Stage 9 (6-7 minutes) • To do speaking activity.

- SS mingle in the middle of the classroom. - SS ask questions each other.

Stage 10 (2-3 minutes) • To check SS's fluency and usage of be and poss.adj.

- teacher monitors the SS - take notes of their mistakes. - give comment or feedback.

Stage 11 (3-4 minutes) • To see the SS progress

- ask individual students to report back on particular students they have spoken to.
