• To clarify and provide controlled practice of functional language: similarities and differences in the context of a picture of two Turkish political leaders

To provide fluency speaking practice of the TL in a freer speaking activity
Procedure (31-42 minutes)
* Start by showing the SS the context-related lead-in visual (app 1). * Write on WB: What are the similarities and differences between these 2 men? * Instruction: Work in pairs and discuss the similarities and differences between Inonu and Demirel. You have 2 minutes. ICQs: What are you going to do in pairs? How much time do you have? * When the time is up, take some w/c FB.
Inst: Work individually and answer the questions on the test by circling the correct answer. You have 3 minutes. ICQs: Are you going to circle the correct answers? How much time do you have? 3 minutes. * Give the handouts to SS (app 2) and monitor to check they work individually. *When the time is up, ask the SS to work in pairs and check each others' answers. Give them 1 minute. * Finally, take w/c FB by giving language input or clarifying what they didn’t understand. * Give the SS the HO with Answer Key (app 3)

Give them 1 minute. * Finally, take w/c FB by giving language input or clarifying what they didn’t understand. * Give the SS the HO with Answer Key (app 5) * Give the SS the Pronunciation HO (app 6) and start drilling with exaggerated intonation and finger highlighting. * Take some w/c FB
