Main Aims

  • To provide detailed listening practice from a text that includes vocabulary such as;to speak,to watch,to go.,in the context of "how you spend your time".

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of vocab. in the form of activity verbs;to go,to speak,to listen to ,to watch,to play,toread.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-0 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will tell them that today we will talk about what we do in our free time and give a few examples from myself; "I read books,Ilisten to music and go to yoga class" And then ask ss what they do in their free time and tell them to share it with their partners.

Listening/Writing (10-0 minutes) • To prepare ss for the text by listening and then fill in the blank exercises about the verbs;to speak,watch,go.listen to,play,read

Play track 1.60,have ss listen and then fill in the blanks on HO"s.

Listening/Speaking (10-0 minutes) • To provide ss with more challenging and detailed listening and give chance to repeat

Play track 1.60 again pause after each remark.Ask ss to identify and give whole sentence each time.e.g;1 .in a band;He says"I play music in a band".

Writing/Listening (10-0 minutes) • To provide ss a chance to check their vocab.andthen reinforce it by listening

Ss match the words with the pictures in 2.a in pairs. Play recording 1.61 to check and practice saying the words. Complete the sentences using the words;to speak,go,listen to,watch,play,read.

Post-Listening/Writing (10-0 minutes) • To provide ss the chance to practice the expressions they've learned with a mingle .

Give HO with a What do you do in your free time? column and an empty column and ask ss to go around the room asking each other questions and then writing on the empty column the names of the ss,therefore getting answers for who does what?
