Description

In this lesson, ss learn about how to spell and write their names and e-mails by means of exercises from their course books. Afterwards, students review auxiliary forms of verb "to be" with present simple tense. In the final part of the lesson there is some controlled practice through the sentence completing exercise and GW as a free practise.

Main Aims

  • to provide ss accurate writing skills in the context of names and e-mails.
  • To provide clarification of the verb "to be" with present simple tense in the context of self introduction.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a spelling in the context of names and e-mails.

Procedure

Pre-Writing before listening#1 (1-2 minutes) • To prepare ss for the listening in exercise 4 and to make it more accessible

-T writes his own name on WB -SS spell name from WB as a WC

Listening and blank filling#1 (3-4 minutes) • To provide ss with the spelling skill through an easy gist reading/listening.

-SS listen and complete the first part of exercise 4.

Monitoring and FB (1-2 minutes) • To make sure that ss accept the context

-T monitors the ss and provides FB

Pre-writing before listening #2 (4-5 minutes) • To provide ss with the example of writing and spelling e-mails.

-T writes and spells his own e-mail on WB. -SS individually write down their own e-mails and say them to their partners in groups.

Listening and blank filling#2 (2-3 minutes) • To provide ss with the spelling skill through an easy gist reading/listening.

-SS listen and complete e-mails from exrecise 4

Monitoring and FB (1-2 minutes) • To make sure that ss accept the context

-T monitors ss and provides FB

Revision of am,is,are (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with the revision of verb to be before exercise.

-T delivers handouts to ss. -T reviews and elicits am, is and are negative forms from handouts.

-T monitors ss and provides FB

Writing practice with the verb to be (4-5 minutes) • To provide ss with a reinforce of am,is,are through a gap-filling exercise.

-SS complete exercise 5 individually and compare answers in groups. -T monitors and provides feedback.

Writing Exercise (10-12 minutes) • To provide ss controlled and freed practice about the context of exercise.

-T starts with own true and false and elicits whether ss believe them or not - SS arrange their seatings in two groups -Each group complete exercise 6 individually with own true and false -SS compare and correct answers within the group -Then groups change their writings and compare and correct
