Description

In this lesson , Ss will practice speaking about functional language in a lecture in the context social customs in Thailand. The lesson starts with a warm up exercise with a small discussion .

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of language for making generalisations in the context of social customs in Thailand

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of social custom in Thailand.

Procedure

Lead in . (5-7 minutes) • To generate interest in the topic of the lesson

I will start the lesson with writing examples about the functional language ,and I will ask them what's the speaker wants to say? Can you do me a favor?(asking for a favor) Please will you accept my apology.(Apologizing) I promise not to leave without you.(promising) It's important to take your shoes off.(generalisations) Then I will tell them the meaning of generalisations .

Gist task. (3-5 minutes) • To ensure Ls are comfortable with the text before exploiting for it for language.

I will ask the Ss to to underline three more generalisations introduced by (it's) from the previous passage.

Clarify language(meaning). (2-3 minutes) • To provide clarification of meaning of TL .To check Ls understand the TL for meanining

I will write( Generalisations ) in the board and ask the students :what's the meanin g of (generalisations)? a written or spoken statement in which you say or write that something is true all of the time when it is only true some of the time.

Clarify language(Form) (2-3 minutes) • To provide clarification of the form of the TL.

It's +adj+to+inf to describe general.

Clarify language(pronunciation). (2-3 minutes) • To provide clarification of pronunciation of TL .

Practice. (5-7 minutes) • To provide an opportunity for LS to use the TL

The Ss will choose from the box to an adjective to make true sentences. Then they will speak about their country using generalisations form.

Feedback. (3-5 minutes) • To praise good use of the TL.To correct errors in TL use.

From monitoring I will notice the strengths and weaknesses and correct it on the board and praising the good use of TL.
