Description

In this lesson,students learn about adverbs of frequency,Time phrases through guided discovery based on a reading text about a profile of a leading executive.The lesson starts with a discussion about work-life balance.This is followed by scanning reading where students read and answer the questions from a to e.Finally there is some controlled practice and free practice via a discussion activity.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of adverbs of frequency,Time phrases in the context of work-life balance,profile of a business executive's typical day

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about work-life balance in the context of profile of a business executive's typical day.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher will ask the students two questions 1- What is the situation like in your country? 2-Do you think this situation will change in the future?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Teacher will ask Ss to read the questions from a to e in Ex.3.Then,students are asked to read the text quickly to find short answers for the five questions.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Teacher will ask the students to underline all the phrases in the text on page 13 which say how often something happens.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Teacher will demonstrate the following examples with the students -People often ask me how i manage to combine a successful career with a family life. -By 5.30 am i am usually up. -It normally takes us about 20 minutes to get to the office.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Teacher will ask the students to answer Ex.7 page.14.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-Teacher will ask the students to answer Ex.8 page .14. -Teacher will ask the students to express themselves freely. -Each student is asked to listen carefully to his partner.
