Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of souvenirs

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide listening practice using a text about choose souvenirs from your country in the context of souvenirs

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Write word(souvenir) on the board ,ask them to guess the meaning .Ask them if any one give them souvenir before ? What was it?

Exposure (5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Ss will listen to six people talking about the souvenirs in their country to put the souvenirs' photos in order they are mentioned.

Useful Language (5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I'll tell students to use these useful language to give their ideas: -I think (a doll) is a good souvenir for (Anna). -How about a book? And these for discussion: -What do you think? -I think a (cd) is better because....... -Yes that's a good idea . -I think the best thing to buy is a (book) And these to say what they decided: - For (Amy) we want to buy a ..... -The best souvenir for (Tom) is a ....... - In Italy we make /have the best (leather) so we decided to give (Helen) (a leather handbag).

Productive Task(s) (15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1 Ask students to work alone read about the people on page 143 to write down some souvenirs from their country for the people. 2 Divide them into small groups to decide the best souvenir for each person. 3 choose one from each group to tell the class about what his/her group decided .

Feedback and Error Correction (5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

During the productive task stage I'll take notes of errors ; in this phase teacher gives feedback and writes them on the board .Teacher asks them to correct errors,if they cannot the teacher corrects errors
