Description

In this lesson ss will practice listening for gist and details about three persons who are taking about things they have seen , read or listened to recently .The lesson starts with a warm up exercise with a small discussion about things we've recently seen or read .Then they move to do two pre listening exercises about things they never do and things they do all time .After that they will listen for gist then for specific information. After that they will learn some vocabulary and end with a group discussion .

Materials

Abc CD2 audio track New Cutting Age intermediate module 6.

Procedure

Lead in . (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and attract ss attention to the target language.

1: Tell ss about my last movie which I've seen recently . 2:Ss discuss together about their last activities. 3: Give FDB by asking one or two of them .

Pre-listening . (5-7 minutes) • To prepare ss for the listening and make it more accessible .

1: Give ss handout with two pre-listening activities about things they've recently seen, read or listened to . 2: clarify any difficult lexies in them . 3: Ask students to look at the first one and mark sentence with 1:things they never do and 4: things they do all the time . 3:work in pairs to compare their answers . 4: Monitor and help them then gets FBK . 5: Then ask ss to look at second exercise and decide which actvities from ex 1 associate with these words. 6:Clarify any difficult lexies and do the first word with them . 7: Ss work in pairs to check their answers and T monitoring to help . Get the FBK .

Listening for gist . (5-7 minutes) • To provide listening for gist to answer question about recent activities.

1:Set ss for the listening by telling them that they will listento three peole and decide what kind of activities they 've recently done ?? 2:play the track ss listen and answer the question . 3; Ss pairs 20th Chevy answers. 4 : Monitoring to help them when necessary and may play the track again if i find any problems. 5: Get the EBK .

Listen for details (5-7 minutes) • To provide listening for detailed information.

1:Set ex 3. Tell Ss to readquestions before listening. 2:To listen to the track and answer the questions . 3:To work in pairs to check answers . 4:Monitor then check answers with the whole class .

Vocabulary focus. (3-5 minutes) • To provide clarification of vocabulary and further understanding of the listening.

1:Elicit the meaning of five words from the listening. 2:Check the meaning with CCQS. Drill chorally and individually then write on the WB . 3:Marke stress on the WB. 4:Give Ss slips of paper and tell them to work in a group to match words with their meanings . 5:Get FBK .

Speaking. (3-5 minutes) • To provide further practice of the target language.

1;Set ex 3b . 2:Tell students to read those questions Then discuss In group. 3:Monitoring to help . 4:Get the FBK .
