Description

In this lesson students are going to read a text about The world biggest open-air music festival. The lesson will start with a short clip about an open air music festival in Turkey. Students will share their experience and later they will read a task for gist and for detailed. At the end they will listen to an audio and will answer some questions. The class will be finished with a freer practice activity. The students will design their own festival in a competitive activity.

Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

* Show students some pictures quickly and ask them if they can guess the subject * elicit some answers, elicit Open - air music festival * show students a short clip about Glastonbury music festival and ask them if they know anything about it or if they have ever been to any festival like that *elicit some answers

Pre-Reading/Listening (7-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

* put students in pair * give students a matching vocabulary worksheet to do *ask them to check with their group *elicit the answers *clarify form *clarify pronunciation

Reading for gist (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Part one * Give students the reading text ( some facts ) and ask them to read it quickly and find the best title for it . *Check with their pairs * Elicit the right answer Part 2 * Give students the text ( some experiences ) *Ask them to read it quickly and think of a title for it * Elicit some answers

Reading for specific information (13-13 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Part one * Ask students to unfold their paper and this time read the text carefully and answer the questions individually * Ask them to check in pair * elicit the correct answers Part 2 * Ask students to unfold the paper and answer the question together. * Ask them to check in their group * Elicit some answers * Ask them to find the correct answers under their desks

Post-Reading/Listening (12-12 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

* Regroup students * Give them a paper and a marker and ask them to plan their own one - day music festival for an international audience of different ages. * They will decide who will perform, food, things to buy, parking, timing, priceing of the tickets *Ask them to put their plan on the board and explain their plan to the other groups * Ask them to sit and vote for the best plan
