Description
In this lesson, students learn about the awesome Con event through a guided discovery based on a listening of a video about Awesome Con. The lesson starts with a small discussion about comic festivals in the USA followed by a listening for gist and for detail. Finally there is a free practice writing;

Procedure (24-41 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
The lesson starts with a warm up where learners will orally recapitulate previous notions , the teacher will later on introduce the context of the lesson and asks the students if they know the name of the Festival where different people disguised as comic characters get together.
Pre-Listening (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the listening and make it accessible
The teacher introduces the listening task and explains the what the main idea is and what they should focus on
While-Listening #1 (3-6 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks
watching the video the first time and answering question 1 page 32 in the Workbook, then correcting the exercice.
While-Listening #2 (6-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed and inference listening tasks

Post-Reading/Listening (9-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
