Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T displays the image of "modern medicine-alternative medicine" T: WHAT CAN YOU SEE IN THE PICTURE?(PILLS, TABLETS, MEDICINE AND FLOWERS) T displays the images "herbs and spices" T: WHAT IS IT?(CINNAMON, GARLIC, CLOVE, CORRIENDER, NUTMEG, GINGER, MUSTARD, SAGE, TURMERIC) WHERE DO WE USE THEM?(FOR COOKING. YOU ARE SICK. YOU USE THEM AND THEY CURE YOUR ILLNESS)

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T: THINK YOU ARE SICK DO YOU USE HERBS OR SPICES? WHICH ONES DO YOU USE? WHICH ILLNESSES DO YOU USE? T GIVES THE HANDOUT " HEALTH PROBLEMS" T: DO YOU USE HERBS FOR HEADACHE.......? T mimes he has a pain in his head. T: YOU SEE ME WHAT DO YOU ASK?( WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU? ARE YOU IN PAIN?) T writes the word "pain" on the board T: HOW DO I SAY.... SAY I...........HEADACHE?( I HAVE A HEADHACHE) T points his shoulder and say: MY SHOULDER ACHES/IS ACHING T writes the sentences and write the verb "to ache" T drills the pronunciation.
