Procedure (40-46 minutes)
Personal anecdote about moving to Turkey. Tell Ss listen to anecdote and to complete deletion task. (Repeat anecdote if they ask.) Monitor to see if Ss understand the instructions in the work they are producing. Ss check answers as pairs. Early finisher completes the task on the WB.
Grammar Box (M, F, P) Utilize Grammar Analysis Worksheet Use cline to demonstrate quantities Use picture of stick people to show smaller group CCQ: How many of them gave their names? Grammar 1 Tell Ss to do the HO with a partner. Monitor to see if Ss understand the instructions in the work they are producing.
Grammar 2 Substitution Table (ST) Ss in new PW. Tell Ss to write 10 sentences from the ST. (Ss who finish early to create with different vocab) Demonstrate 1st example on WB. Monitor to see if Ss understand the instructions in the work they are producing. 1st pair group to check answers with other pair at their table. Ask Ss to present concerns to whole class - WC FB. T only engages when WC FB is wrong or unknown correct answer.
Class Survey Prep Ss in GW (3 or 4). Get in groups before giving instructions. Each group gets a different survey. Explain that the Ss will interview their classmates. But first they need to prepare the survey. Tell Ss to write 3 additional sentences in the blanks. Ss need to think of what their classmates might give as answers. Or difficult choices to choose in-between. ICQ. "Are you interviewing for the survey now?" "Are you working individually?" "Are you answering the questions for your opinion?" Monitor to see if Ss understand the instructions in the work they are producing.
Class Survey Ss interview each other. Read question, give the 4 options as answers. Ss must get answers from at least 10 Ss. Record their answer. Take your classmate's survey. Demonstrate with a S. Recollect into original groups. Ss are to look at the ST and make new sentences to present their findings to the class. Monitor to see if Ss are productively conducting interviews.
