Main Aims

To provide gist, scan and detailed reading practice using a text about Mega-cities in the context of travel
Subsidiary Aims

To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of travel
Procedure (31-45 minutes)
The T will display on board using the projector a video of the top ten biggest cities in the world. Then, the T will ask his Ss which city would they like to live in.
-The T will project to the students some pictures of the targeted vocabs and he will try to elicit from the meaning of each picture. - Each vocab will be written on the board with its grammatical form.
- The T will provide students with the handouts and they will be required to work on the ex1. - Ss will work in pairs.
- The T will ask students to work in pairs and try and answer questions concerning the megacities in the provided handouts. The ex will be as follows: How big is Tokyo? Is it a poor or rich city? How big is Mumbai? Is it a poor or a rich city? How big is Mexico City? Is it a poor or a rich city? FB: T will provide ss with the answer keys projected to them on the board.
- T will divide ss into 3 groups, each group will read about one of the cities given to them in the handouts and they will be required to answer the questions set to them about each city they are working on. FB: T will provide each group with the answer keys.
- the T is going to give an opportunity to ss to engage more with the lesson by making them think of other cities they would like to live in and why. -If time allows, ss will be asked to design their own dream city and give it a name.
