Procedure (37-49 minutes)
- Post a picture of an event that took place on Republic day -Ask the Ss if someone has an interesting story of what they did over the weekend. -Ask them if they participated in any events or performances for republic day. Ask if they went to see any fireworks on sunday night. -Briefly, explain that I went to the Galata tower
-Pass the HO out -Explain that to the Ss to fill in the blank spaces with words from the word list. Explain that they can work with a partner Answers: 1) stayed 3) listened 5)played 7) started 2) visited 4) watched 6) wanted Get some WC FB Write the answers on the WB as students give FB
-Hand out the second practice worksheet. Explain to the students that they are to: - Read about Kevins week. Let the Ss know that they can work in pairs. Have them take turns reading what Kevin did each day out loud. Ex: partner 1 reads for Monday... -After reading they are to work in pairs to answer the questions about the reading. As the students work together in pairs the teacher will monitor the class and help/answer questions when needed. Answers: 1. did he get up 2. did he do 3. did you buy 4. did you go 5. did you see After the students finish the teacher will get some WC FB. The teacher will use the WB to give answer as students give FB. Teacher makes sure all Ss participate. - The Ss will then work on #7 of the HO. They will again work in pairs this time they will be moved around in order to have a new partner. This allows for regrouping. - They will ask and answer the yes/no question about Kevin. Make sure to write an example on the WB Answers 2. did he like the film? no, he didn't 3. Did he have a pizza? Yes, he did 4. Did he enjoy the party? No, he didn't know anybody. -Have some time for WC FB Write the answers on WB ** make sure all Ss are participating ** if time, allow the Ss to work on #8 of the worksheet. If no time let them know they can do it at home if they want.
-Tell the students they will chat a little about what they did over the weekend. -Put the students in groups of three. -Teacher writes three questions on WB: What time did you get up on Saturday? Did you visit anyone on Sunday? What did you eat for dinner on Monday? -Have them use the reverse side of the previous HO if they want to write down their thoughts. ** Make sure the students use the correct form of past simple regular verbs **Get some WC FB.
