Procedure (36-45 minutes)
I Will show them some pictures and ask them to interpret. The pictures will help them understand the topic and get engaged to the reading tasks.
I will show them the pictures of different colored hats and ask them why I'm showing them the colored hats. Then I will ask the students to read the brief introduction of the text. They will be provided with cut ups) By reading the introduction they will know about The Six Thinking Hats. I will then show them how six colors represent six different ways of thinking.
The students will get into groups and play a game. ( $100 TEST). In this game the students will assign relative value ( based on priority) to a list of items by spending an imaginary $100 together. The dollars symbolizes the importance of items and they must decide as a group to divide out the dollars across the list. (Thinking Strategies) The students will be provided with the handouts. I will ask students to underline new words from the text. ( Skimming) I will provide them with clues to understand meaning of the words from the text. ( Vocabularies) I will conduct repetition drill to help them practice those words. ( Pronunciation) I will ask the students to read the text again and ask them which hat represents someone who a. thinks positively b. thinks creatively c. manages situations d. focuses on challenges e. thinks emotionally f. focuses on the fact ( Scanning)
Students will get into pairs and discuss which verbs they think go with the word/ phrases. ( handouts will given) Then they will check their ideas in the introduction and article. ( grammar)
The students will get into groups and discuss the questions provided to them based on the text. They will write down their ideas and one student from each group will voluntarily read out the ideas to the whole class.
