TP6 Eating Habits

Description

In this lesson, the sts will learn new vocabulary about food and meals. They will practice with these words. An eating survey will be given the sts. There are some missing words in this survey. The sts will find out these missing words and then they will listen to this survey about eating habits. They will match the answers to the questions according to the survey. They will ask these questions their partners and they will survey about their eating habits.

Main Aims

  • To provide review, clarification and practice of eating habits.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about an eating habbits survey
  • To focus on listening through an eating habits survey with the TL:

Procedure

Warmer / Lead- in (3-5 minutes) • to set lesson context and engage the sts.

Change the group members. Ask the sts "How many meals do you have in a day? What are they? Write "Breakfast, lunch and dinner" on the WB. Ask them "What do you have for breakfast(lunch / dinner) ? "

Presentation of Vocabulary (6-8 minutes) • To provide the context relevant to food and meals for the TL. and the meaning of the TL.

Show the sts 12 photos(HO).Ask them what this photo is. T will elicit the words from the sts . Give them the vocabulary words. Ask them to match the words to the photos with their partners. Give the sts 2 minutes to match them. Then point out the first photo and ask " What is it?." Drill the pronunciation of the word after they say the word. Do the same thing for all words. If they have difficulties to pronounce the words repeat and drill the pronunciations of the words eggs /eɡs/, toast /toʊst/ , fruit /fruːt , milk /mɪlk/ , soup /suːp/ , chicken /ˈtʃɪkɪn/, meat /miːt/ , fish /fɪʃ/, pasta /ˈpɑːstə/ , salad /ˈsæləd/ , ice cream /ˌaɪsˈkriːm/ , vegetables /ˈvedʒtəbls/ Clarfy the meanings of the verb have , eat or drink. I have coffe = I drink coffe I have fish = I eat fish.

Practice of Vocabulary (6-8 minutes) • To prepare the sts for more meaningful practice and to consolidate vocabulary.

Give the sts four sentences ( Ex 2: Straightforward Beginner SB page 54 ) and ask them to complete the sentences by using the TL with their partners. For FB, ask a studentwhat his partner told. Give the sts ex:3 (straightforward Beginner SB Page 54) This exercise was adapted by teacher. Because they don't know how to say times. Ask the sts to make questions with these words. Do first exercise and show them how to doit. This is a pair work.They will make sentences with their partners. Ask the sts to make questions whit these words . Do first exercise and show them how to do it. Where do you have breakfast? what do you have for breakfast? This is a PW. They will make sentences with their partners. Then the sts will ask their partners these questions and get their answers. Ask the sts to summarize what their partner told them . Remind the sts to change have to has. Note the stress in the sentence .

Pre Listening (4-5 minutes) • To get the sts to find out the missing words in the survey

T will give the sts the survey. There are some missing words in this survey. The sts will try to find out these missing words in the survey. T will give the sts 2 minutes . This is a PW. The sts will speak to their partners and find out these missing words. The sts will listen to the survey about eating habits. They will check the missing words they wrote.

While Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide the sts listening in details.

The sts will read six answers of the person who took the survey( Reading and listening ex:3) . Then the sts will listen to the survey again and match the answers to questions.When they finish it they will check their answers with their group members. Then T will give them the answers.

Post Listening (8-9 minutes) • To get the sts practice speaking for fluency relate the survey to their own lives.

The sts will stand up. The sts ask and answer these questions in the survey. For FB, T will ask a few sts to summarize what their partner told them. Finish the lesson by giving error correction.
