Main Aims

  • Students will get to know vocabulary related to personality traits ( such as: unusual, eccentric, grumpy...)by listening to people talking about pets.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To explain vocabulary related to personality (such as: difficult, miserable,bright) and to provide practise of their use.Set a speaking task to allow Students to use the expressions they learnt in the previous step.

Procedure

Stage1: Lead In (3-5 minutes) • Lesson introduction / Setting context

-Post pets pictures: *Describe what you see in the picture? *Can we keep these animals at home? *Why do you think people keep pets? -Post pets&owners pictures: *Have a look at the picture and tell your parnter what do you notice?

Stage 2: Pre-Listening (3-5 minutes) • Familiarize students with animals' names and adjectives related to personality traits mentioned in the listening

-Give intsructions about matching each animal name with the right picture. -Distribute HO. -FB -Give instructions about matching each adjective with the right meaning. -Distribute HO. -FB

Stage 3: While-Listening #1 (8-10 minutes) • Students listen in order to identify the people involved

-Give instructions: Listen and match the people 1-5 with the pets in photos A-E. -Students listen and answer individually -Listen again and check answers with each others. -FB

Stage 4:While-Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • Students should listen and check for specific information

-Give instructions: Listen and discuss with your partner: * the similarities between the people and their pets. -FB (check in the script)

Stage 5:Post-Listening (10-15 minutes) • Have a better understanding of how to describe a person using certain adjectives.
