Procedure (45-59 minutes)
Set the context by eliciting the word ''town'' and wrting it in the centre of the WB. Draw 2 lines branching out from the word and write '' A good town'', and 'A bad town'' at the end of each line.In pairs,get the Sts to mind-map everything they know for each one and then write on WB one by one.
Get the students work in pairs for categorising the nouns on WB in terms of countable and uncountable nouns depending on their meanings and forms and elicit the nouns categorised from the Ss and get them write their answers on WB on their own.
Divide the class into small groups consisting of 3 Ss and give cut-up cards1 (Material 1) containing different countable and uncountable nouns and get Ss categorise these nouns in terms of countable and uncountable through group work ,support them by related CCQs for clarification.Get the students write their answers on WB.
Tell Ss some quantifiers match with certain countable and uncountable nouns.Then,change the group members and give the new groups cut-up cards 2( Material 2) containing different quantifiers and want them to match these quantifiers with the countable and uncountable nouns in the cut-up cards 1 (Material 1).
Divide the class in pairs. Give the Ss hand-outs1 of the text ‘‘Living in Montreal’’ (Material 3) containing TL for students to read and match certain quantifiers with the suitable countable and uncountable nouns on the hand-outs 2 (Material 4) containing Grammar ex.1 on page 30 and CCQs to elicit the correct usage from Ss.Give Answer Key 1(Material 5).
In pairs,get Ss choose the correct expression to complete the sentence in the hand-out 3 (Material 6)containing Grammar ex.2 on page 30 in SsBk and share their answers with eachother, then check in pairs.Give Answer Key 2 (Material 7).
Get Ss write six sentences about their own towns using different quantifiers in each sentence ,and share them in pairs.
