To provide detailed reading practice using a text about first day at school in the context of teachers
Subsidiary Aims

To provide fluency speaking practice in a discussion in the context of describing the first day at school
Procedure (43-53 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
T displays a picture of students in their first day at school. ss discuss the following questions with their groups (ex. 1): What can you remember about your first day at school? How did you feel? What did you think of the teachers?
Pre-Reading/ Speaking (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible
T asks ss to look at the picture of Miss Trunchbull and discuss with their groups what they think of this teacher.
While-Reading #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks
T asks ss
While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks
Ss reread
Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
Ss will complete the sentences in ex. 5a.
