Procedure (39-48 minutes)
SS watch the movie trailer and answer the Qs: WHAT KIND OF MOVIE IS THIS? WHAT IS IT ABOUT? SS watch the trailer again and answer Qs: 1. WHO IS JEREMY IRONS? 2. WHO IS VANGELIS? 3. WHAT DID THEY DO FOR THE MOVIE?
T writes a list of words (see below) on the WB and asks SS to explain the connection between them. WASTE RUBBISH GARBAGE REFUSE DUMP TRASH INCENERATOR ISSUE SS discuss in pairs. Then WCF.
SS listen to the interview with film director (P.1) and decide if the statements given are true or false. SS listen for the second time to check their answers and to find out why F sentences are false. PW to check the answers. WCF.
SS are divided into 2 groups (A and B). They are given sheets with questions from the the second (St. A) and third (St. B) parts of the interview. They are going to listen to their parts in different classrooms. While listening to Candida's answers, they are supposed to make as many notes as possible. They listen the interviews twice, after which a short group discussion follows. (8 m)
When group B comes back, SS are paired A+B. Now they get each other's Qs from the previous task. 1. St A is CANDIDA. St B is a journalist. St B asks Qs, St A answers (they can use their notes) in full sentences. St B writes down St A's answers in full sentences. 2. SS swap their roles.
SS discuss Qs in pairs, then with the whole class. Qs: What should be done to the trash we produce? What do you do with you trash? Do you think you should change something in your habits regarding waste?
