Materials
Main Aims
-
To give Ss practice in telling anecdotes in the context of sports.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To give Ss clarification of some functional language on telling anecdotes.
Procedure (31-45 minutes)
T will try to elicit the word 'anecdote' by showing an example on the board. The T will ask CCQs to make sure that the meaning was completely clarified. Then, the T who has prepared the written forms of a piece of news, an anecdote, and an academic subject will stick the written forms to the walls and have the Ss to stand up and match the written forms with their types. The T will put the Ss in groups to complete this activity. WCF
The T will pair the Ss and then, give them three written anecdotes and ask them to read the anecdotes with their pairs and then, discuss which one they like the most and why. WCF
The T will give some tips on how to tell a story or anecdote.
First, the T will put the Ss in pairs. The T will give instructions on how to complete the task and then, ask the Ss to think about the two anecdotes they are going to talk about in with their partners. Finally, Ss start telling their anecdotes to their partners. If time, the T will change the pairs and ask them to do the same thing with their new partners. WCF
The teacher will provide the class with a Whole Class Feedback. Finally, the T will write the errors she collected during the tasks on the board and ask the class to correct the sentences.
