Subsidiary Aims
-
Speaking as a productive skill to put collocations into practice.
Procedure (21-45 minutes)
I will tell the Ss that there is a stereotype in Turkey that says that women are better than men in many ways and they can control their husbands, then I will get the feedback and move to blocking words activity. I will show the Ss images on the WB and ask CCQs about the images, then I will give the Ss instructions and ask Ss to work in groups and ask ICQs, then I will give every group one word with its definition and I will ask them to read the definition and match between the image and the word on the WB.
I will ask Ss to work in a group to do a task, which is( find someone who). I will give instructions then ask ICQs then hand out the task and ask them to start. Finally, I will get the feedback.
I will ask the Ss to put the text about men and women away and try to fill the gaps with the right prepositions and I will ask them to work in pairs. I will ask them ICQs then give them the task and ask them to start. Finally, I will get the WCF.
If they can not get the meaning, I will hand out the Ss some sentences with images and ask them to work in groups to fill the gaps, then I will get WCF. To clarify the form, I will show them that a collocation can be verb + preposition or adj+ prepositon by using CCQs. To clarify the pronunciation, I will show them on the board the phonemic symbols of the TL and sound linking, that we make when we pronoun them, then, I will do some drilling. Finally, I will get the WCF.
I will ask the Ss to work in a group to practice speaking by using a task, which I will hand out the Ss after I give instructions, then ICQs. Finally, I will get the FB from every student.
