Procedure (55 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
What happens when .... Joe was very tired Round robin of students asking for effects and then the other way around - why did Joe go to bed early Round robin of students asking for cause
Exposure (10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation
Explain what a cause and effect are separately, and elicit the connectors to link them from students
Clarification (5 minutes) • To ensure student understanding of linking connectors
Write LF Pg 82 examples on board to show both cause and effect options
Controlled Practice (15 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice
Read LF Pg 82 bottom half re. P&G and G - Supply beginning of 5 sentences for pairs to complete WC to confirm
Free Practice (15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
Using tapescript for Unit 17, WC example mid text + PW to re-write 2 more sentences in Teachers book Pg 77. WC to confirm
