Tell them to listen to the story and find out. Explain to them that they will hear a beep noise on the CD to tell tehm when to move to the next picture in the story. Play the CD and tell them to listen and read the story. Ask the students again the same questions that you asked about the story in the beginning of the class such as "Whose birthday is it?" "What is it in the cake?" Then stop the CD and have them repeat whay they have heard.
Ask questions about each picture as follows 1) Where are Alex and Katie? (in Fairyland) 2) What do they follow? (the footprints) 3) Who do Alex and Katie meet? Assign a role to each group. Read the story speech bubbles on the Pupil's Book page. Point to each group and join in miming and sayin their parts. The children act out their parts either with or without their books, depending on how confident and familiar they are with this episode.
Read the words at the top of the activity. Say "Here's a.... for you" for each picture and the children say the missing word. Then they write the missing words as in the example. Then ask them again how old they are. Say draw as many candles as your age and color your birthday cake.
